Rendering a Wall
Rendering an outside wall costs about €35–€60 per m² in sand and cement and €50–€75 in a one-coat coloured render. A garden wall needs both faces and the top done, and a capping to keep the rain out.

See your house rendered, then get a price
Upload a photo of the front of your house, pick the finish and the colour, and see it on your own walls in about a minute. Your request goes to one rendering contractor who covers your county.

Rendering your walls. This takes 20 to 50 seconds.
Your request is already through, so you can close this page if you need to.
That's an AI preview, not a promise. The contractor prices the real walls after a look.
We couldn't do this one. Some photos don't work: a clearer, wider shot in daylight usually does.
Your request is in: you'll still get a call with a price.
What a wall needs

- Both faces if it's freestanding: rendering one side only lets damp in from the other.
- A capping on top, in concrete, stone or a coping, so water runs off.
- A sound base: new blockwork, or old render that's firmly stuck.
- Beads at the ends and corners for a straight edge.
Under the exempted development rules for walls around a house (Class 5), a wall in front of the house can be up to 1.2 m high and elsewhere 2 m without planning, and the face of a plain concrete block wall that can be seen from a road or path has to be rendered or plastered, and capped.
Gable walls of a house are part of the house job: they're priced with the rest of the walls, and they're the ones that take the weather.
What a wall costs
Supplied and applied, per square metre of wall, and for whole houses.
| Job | Typical price | What moves the price |
|---|---|---|
| Sand and cement render, painted | €35–€60 per m² | Two coats by hand, then masonry paint. Cheapest to apply, needs repainting |
| Monocouche (one-coat, coloured) | €50–€75 per m² | Colour in the mix, scraped finish. Needs dry, mild weather to cure evenly |
| Silicone render (thin coat) | €55–€80 per m² | Base coat and mesh first, then the coloured silicone. Sheds water and dirt |
| Repairs: a plasterer by the day | €200–€300 a day | €350–€500 a day with a labourer. Patches are priced after a look |
A guide for typical Irish houses. Your price is fixed by the contractor after they've seen the walls. Nothing is booked until you say yes.
